My number one reason for studying abroad in Korea was to practice my Korean. I began to study Korean when I was a high school student because I was interested in Korea. At first, it was easy for me to learn it because Japanese has lots in common with Korean such as word orders, words from Chinese characters. However, the more I learned, the more it was hard for me to understand the differences nuances and pronunciations between Korean and Japanese and I felt that I need learn Korean in Korea.
While studying abroad, I want to acquire a native expressions of Korean through various experiences.

I took several Korean taught classes about culture, history and so on as well as Korean language classes. Among then, what impressed most was class about Korean and East Asian histories. I had troubled taking this class because the contents was very difficult for me, so I tried hard and those experiences lead to my confidence. Outside the class, I tried to have opportunities to speak Korean by taking part in club activities, going out with friends, and so on.

When I first started to study abroad, I got nerves to talk to native people. And I always felt that I was irritated with myself not being able to speak Korean well. But now, I became to understand most of it. When it comes to speaking in Korean, I am not good at so I continue studying so as to work in a job where I can use Korean.
