Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

I first became interested in the Korean language when I was in elementary school. I remember seeing Hangul for the first time in a bookstore and thinking that the characters were very beautiful and attractive. However, because I was devoted to classical ballet at that time, I only occasionally looked at Korean books and did not begin studying the language seriously.

After I stopped practicing classical ballet in my first year of high school, I decided to start learning Korean because I had always wanted to be able to speak a language that had fascinated me since childhood.

In addition, I had an experience during a family trip to Nagasaki in high school that inspired me to pursue a career as a ground staff member at an airport. My father had difficulty finding the parking area, and we arrived at the airport only about thirty minutes before our flight departure. A ground staff member kindly helped us by carrying our luggage and running with us to the gate, which happened to be the farthest one in the airport. I was deeply impressed by the dedication and kindness shown to complete strangers, and this experience made me want to become a ground staff member in the future.

This experience connected my interest in Korean language learning with my career goal of becoming a ground staff member who can work in an international environment using Korean. I realized that I needed to improve not only my Korean skills but also my English proficiency. Therefore, I chose my current university because it offers opportunities to study Korean and English intensively and provides an excellent student exchange program.

Currently, I’m studying Korean, English, and Chinese at university. Through this study abroad program, I hope to improve my practical Korean language skills and eventually achieve a business-level proficiency. In addition, I believe that becoming a successful ground staff member requires not only language ability but also a deep understanding of Korean culture, values, and perspectives that may differ from those in Japan. Therefore, I hope to deepen my understanding of different cultures through daily life and interactions with local students, while developing communication skills and the ability to appreciate diverse perspectives. Through this study abroad experience, I would like to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to become a ground staff member who can succeed in an international environment.
