Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

My interest in studying in Japan developed from my long-standing exposure to Japanese culture through anime, films, music, and television dramas. As I engaged with various forms of content, I became curious about how Japanese culture is created, delivered to audiences, and shared more widely. I also developed an interest in how culture influences people’s daily lives and ways of thinking.

Through my university studies, I have learned that culture and the arts are not only about the works themselves, but also about the processes that support them, such as planning, management, and distribution. At the same time, I realized that there are many aspects that cannot be fully understood through classroom learning alone. This led me to believe that gaining firsthand experience in real-world settings is important. For this reason, I decided to pursue an exchange program in Japan, where I can directly observe and learn how cultural content is received and shared within society.

In particular, I am drawn to Kobe as a place of study. Kobe has a rich history of cultural diversity, where different cultures have coexisted and blended naturally into everyday life. I believe that living in such an environment will allow me to experience aspects of culture that cannot be learned from textbooks alone and to better understand how culture develops through interactions among people.

One of my main goals during this exchange program is to experience culture firsthand rather than only studying it in class. In addition to attending classes, I hope to deepen my understanding by taking part in cultural events and everyday life, observing how cultural content is enjoyed by people. If possible, I would also like to participate in events or activities to learn more about how cultural projects are organized and presented.

Another important goal is to improve my Japanese language skills. Although I have studied Japanese before, I feel that there are many expressions and nuances that can only be learned through real-life communication. Therefore, I aim to develop more natural and practical language skills through daily interactions, classes, and discussions. In particular, I hope to strengthen my ability to express my thoughts clearly in Japanese.

In the future, I hope to use the experiences and language skills gained through this program to work in fields related to culture and content, where I can help connect people across different countries and regions. For this reason, I consider this exchange program not just a study opportunity, but an important step toward broadening my perspective.
