Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

I grew up immersed in Japanese animation and games, which sparked a deep admiration for Japan. In university, I began studying Japanese, and through this learning process, I came to realize that behind this complex language lie layers of social, cultural, and literary significance. Initially, I studied Japanese primarily to understand the texts in anime and games. However, I now seek a deeper understanding of the country and its people, while mastering Japanese as both a skill I can freely use and a key milestone in my personal and professional journey. My ultimate goal is to become a language teacher, helping others who share my passion for Japanese turn their aspirations into reality.
This exchange program represents an essential step toward that goal. By living and studying in Japan, I hope to further refine my Japanese proficiency, experience Japanese society and culture firsthand, and deepen my understanding of the country while broadening my academic and cultural perspectives. I also plan to study various languages and educational theory during my exchange. Beyond acquiring specialized knowledge, I wish to observe and experience Japan’s approach to foreign language education firsthand, thereby laying a strong foundation for achieving my future objectives.

Experience while studying abroad

Half a year has already passed since my study abroad began. The cherry blossoms that once witnessed countless meetings and farewells have recently fallen, signaling that my time here has entered its final countdown. These past six months have been so vibrant that the swift passing of time fills me with a quiet sense of regret.
My coursework this half year has centered largely on language. As my Japanese grew beyond surface comprehension, I was struck anew by its complexity, literary depth, and cultural richness. The way a single choice of words can reveal a person's character and social standing has only deepened my passion for learning the language.
Outside the classroom, given my naturally introverted disposition, I took what I might call a remarkable step forward. Through exchanges with fellow international students and Japanese classmates alike, I built genuine friendships. Thanks to these companions, I gained countless fresh experiences and have come to feel my horizons broadening as never before.
In the time that remains, I intend to push myself further in every aspect. Working toward my goal of becoming a teacher, I plan to take more courses in both language and education. I also hope to meet more people and experience more, adding yet more color to my time abroad and making this one year a single brushstroke capable of transforming the course of my life.
