Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

1. Why did you decide to participate in an exchange program?
I decided to participate in an exchange program because I believe it is a valuable opportunity to grow both academically and personally by immersing myself in a different cultural and linguistic environment. In a world that is constantly changing due to global challenges such as war, pandemics, and climate crises, I believe it is essential to develop the ability to adapt and respond flexibly.
Since high school, I have been deeply interested in sustainable art and have continually asked myself what kind of artistic expression cannot be replaced by advancing technologies. My interest led me to digital art, which I believe is not a form that fades with technology, but one that evolves alongside it. To explore this further, I hope to study abroad where I can engage with different perspectives and deepen my creative thinking.
Moreover, I have always been fascinated by Japanese culture, especially its media and visual arts, due to the influence of my relatives living in Japan. Studying in Japan will allow me to better understand how the country maintains its unique cultural identity while producing globally resonant content. This experience will be essential for achieving my dream of creating art that holds meaning simply through its existence.

2. Why did you choose to study at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU)?
I chose Kwansei Gakuin University because of its comprehensive academic offerings in the arts and media, its vibrant exchange program, and its commitment to nurturing global citizens. I was particularly drawn to KGU’s school motto “Mastery for Service,” which reflects a deep-rooted philosophy of using one’s skills to contribute to society.
KGU’s rich learning environment and international atmosphere make it an ideal place to refine my skills and expand my global perspective. I believe the university's emphasis on community, creativity, and service aligns perfectly with my own goals. I look forward to participating in workshops, collaborating with students from various backgrounds, and learning more about Japan’s unique approach to art and communication.
By studying at KGU, I hope to challenge myself in a new environment, improve my Japanese proficiency, and gain insights that will enrich my personal and academic growth.

3. How will this experience contribute to your future goals?
I am highly interested in the Japanese advertising and media industry, which is renowned for its originality, emotional storytelling, and innovative use of technology. Experiencing this culture firsthand will give me a deeper understanding of the creative processes behind these works, and help me identify the differences and similarities with my home country’s industry.
My long-term goal is to work in the international advertising field, ideally bridging cultural gaps and delivering messages that resonate with global audiences. If possible, I would also like to pursue a career in Japan. For this reason, I see this exchange as a crucial step toward building the skills and cultural understanding needed to work in a cross-cultural environment.
By learning the language and values of Japanese society, I believe I can become a communicator who connects people across borders. This exchange will not only enhance my creative expression but also help me grow into a professional who can deliver meaningful messages that inspire and move people.

Experience while studying abroad

During my exchange program in Japan, I studied in the Japanese Language Track at Kwansei Gakuin University. Through this program, I was able to significantly improve my Japanese language skills. Not only did my vocabulary and grammar improve, but my speaking and listening abilities also developed through daily practice and interaction.
In addition, living in the International Residence gave me a valuable opportunity to communicate with students from many different countries. By sharing conversations and experiences with friends from diverse cultural backgrounds, I was able to broaden my perspective and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures.
Another unforgettable aspect of my exchange experience was traveling around Japan with the friends I met during my time here. We visited many places such as Kyoto and Osaka, as well as small towns in the Kansai region. Each destination allowed me to experience different aspects of Japanese culture, history, and local life.
Among these trips, our winter journey to Sapporo was particularly memorable. Seeing the beautiful snowy scenery and exploring the city together created unforgettable memories and left a deep impression on me. These moments not only strengthened my friendships but also made my study abroad experience even more meaningful.
Studying abroad in Japan was not only an academic experience but also a valuable life experience. I experienced Japanese culture firsthand, adapted to a new environment, and learned how to communicate with people from different backgrounds. These experiences helped me become more independent and open-minded.
In the future, I would like to continue improving my Japanese and apply what I have learned during this exchange program to my academic and professional goals. I believe that this experience will be very helpful for my future career, especially because I hope to work in an international field such as advertising or marketing.
