Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

My reason for wishing to study abroad is that I want to immerse myself in a different culture and economic environment, deepening my cross-cultural understanding through on-site learning. Through my university studies and life in the international student dormitory, I had many opportunities to interact with international students. While I was initially bewildered by differences in culture and values, exchanging opinions and deepening my understanding allowed me to truly appreciate the joy and importance of engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, further strengthening my interest in the international community.
France, my intended study destination, is a central EU nation advancing pioneering initiatives on environmental issues and social challenges. By studying sustainable economics and urban planning within this environment, I aim to gain firsthand understanding of the challenges facing the global society. Furthermore, beyond deepening specialized knowledge in classes, I wish to cultivate the ability to express my opinions while accepting differing values through discussions with local students. Furthermore, through daily life and interactions abroad, I aim to experience different cultures and lifestyles, developing flexible thinking that allows me to view matters from multiple perspectives.

Experience while studying abroad

I feel that studying abroad is not only about learning at the university, but also about learning from daily life.

In my classes, there are not only local students but also many international students from outside the EU. I can interact with people from many different countries. At first, I was surprised by how strongly people express their opinions and how fast discussions move. However, now I understand that it is not about finding the “correct” answer. Instead, I have learned to respect different perspectives and see value in sharing my own ideas.

In daily life, I also learn a lot by spending time with local students. I can feel that people in France care about the environment and value their history. By actually living here, I can better understand why they have these values, which I find very interesting.

Results of study abroad, future goals

Through this study abroad experience, I realized the importance of learning and thinking in a diverse environment, and was able to significantly broaden my perspective.
In particular, in my management classes, the understanding I gained through daily life in France—such as European ways of thinking, lifestyles, and historical and cultural backgrounds—greatly enhanced my comprehension of the course content. This experience enabled me to analyze, based not only on theory but also on real-life experience, why management styles differ from those in Japan and why local adaptation is essential in global business.
In addition, through discussions and daily interactions in a multicultural environment, I developed the ability to express my ideas logically while also striving to understand others with different values and backgrounds.
Going forward, I aim to build on this experience by actively engaging in both academic learning and intercultural exchange throughout my university life, further enhancing my personal growth. After graduation, I aspire to work in a global environment where I can make flexible decisions while respecting diverse perspectives.
