I have yearned for an opportunity to live and study in another country. Thus I went to various study-abroad explanation meetings since I entered university. As I want to work abroad someday in the future, the Middle-term Internship program in Australia sounded appealing to me because students can learn Business English first and afterwards can actually experience practical Internship. In addition to this, the program is harder than other programs because students are required to have high English ability. They will learn practical English and take part in the internship. This was the most appealing point to me.
My purpose in the program is to improve my English, having a lot of experience in the foreign country, and expanding my perspective through meeting various people in Australia. I would like to study English hard and try to experience a lot of things positively.
I went to watch Climate Change Strike as an excursion on Friday in Australia. Climate Change Strike started by Greta Thunberg, who was a high school student in Sweden. She went on strike to make a protest against climate change. This activity spread globally, and was connected to today's Climate Change Strike.
In Sydney, it was conducted in the Hyde Park, where is a large park. There were a lot of people regardless of gender and age such as children under 5 years, office workers and elderly people. Moreover they held up various placards to protest against climate change. I was so surprised that children who were younger than me took part in the protest rally about climate change which is one of the biggest problem all over the world, and particularly that many people participated it with taking off school and work on weekdays. In Japan, Climate Change Strike is not popular, but I learned there are same activities such as in Osaka, so I would like to watch next time in Japan.
I discovered something new which I had never found throughout the internship program. I had said that I would like to work in foreign countries in this report and I only looked at merits. However I found some difficulties to work abroad. I liked using English and I thought working abroad would be cool, but there are much more difficulties than merits. In fact, I felt stressed by the gap with differences of mother tongues. Moreover I experienced that would never happen in Japan such as that all products which were sent by the factory were already dirty or broken. For me, they had been much more stress than I expected. Particularly, the different common sense would be a bottleneck to work abroad.
On the other hand, I could discover my week point. I'm worried about that now, but I've already set a goal to overcome it with high motivation. In conclusion, I could grow as a student, and a person throughout this program.
