Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

Kobe is the political, economic and cultural center of Hyogo Prefecture, and also has an important international trade port in Japan. Because there are many foreigners in Kobe, I thought it was a city where I could grow into a global talent by having access to culture, language, and race. In city with this attraction and also in japan, the top-ranked university is Kobe University, so I can choose without hesitation.
Currently, I am majoring in Japanese language at Mokpo University, and I am learning education to become a Japanese teacher. However, I thought that I had not enough Japanese ability to teach students, so I thought I should go to Japan and study Japanese in person. So, I tried to participate whenever I had a chance to study language research in Japan. As a result, I participated in the language training of Nagoya University three years ago and Kobe University in July this year.
Studying abroad for a year, I have two goals. The first is to have Japanese ability to teach students Japanese, and to have abundant experience to tell students about Japanese culture that I felt as well as studying abroad in Japan. The second is to enjoy the sports culture of Japan. When I saw Japanese sports, l always felt it’s organized. I want to learn more about a long-standing Koshien baseball culture and Japan's culture of club activity.

Experience while studying abroad

I was worried before I went to Kobe University to study. I was worried about whether I could adjust to the political issues of Korea, Japan and both countries. However, thanks to advice from countless people who came to Japan, I was able to adapt and now it's past four months. There are a lot of things I've experienced in 4 months. First of all, Kobe University not only offers classes for majoring, but also runs Japanese language classes for foreign students. There are a lot of foreign students taking Japanese classes because their major classes are quite high. Thanks to that, I was able to study various parts of the Japanese language in this class. I thought that conversation and composition were weak, so I was able to make up for the lack through class. I think it was good that I could learn all the things that the teacher spoke because I could teach Japanese to the Japanese. Secondly, since Kobe University has come from many countries, you can learn everything you talk to them about. This is a conversation class in which the teacher listens to the students' thoughts about the distribution of the subject matter and how they do in each country. From there, I was able to learn about the cultures and values of various countries. Third, I have plenty of time to stay in Japan. If you don't work part-time, the students have a lot of time outside of class, so it's interesting to travel here and there in a limited amount of time, but I think it's best to enjoy Japan while walking leisurely. I walked from Kobe to Osaka to make unforgettable memories during the year-end winter vacation. And while climbing Mt. Rokko with my Korean students, I was able to make memories that I would never forget in my life. Through this experience, I believe that Japan is a more beautiful country if you look at it with plenty of room for travel. I want to continue to study and experience more while creating memories that I will never forget.

Results of study abroad, future goals

The time at Kobe University ended in no time. I went back to my home country in spring vacation which ended up not returning back to Kobe due to the travel restriction caused by corona virus related situation. However, my half-year experience in Japan was so much fun. This experience has given me a good understanding of the culture of Japan. I also felt that my Japanese writing, kanji, presentation, and conversation skills improved through my Japanese classes at Kobe University. I was very happy to be able to socialize with many other people while working part-time. When I returned to Korea, I was supposed to teach high school students for a month starting next year, and it was a good experience to explain my experience to many students. Unfortunately, I thought it would be a better experience if it wasn't for the Corona virus, but all the people I met in Kobe got along well and it would be a memory for the rest of my life.
Based on my experience at Kobe University, I think it will be very helpful to find a job related to Japan and achieve my goals.
