I've been looking forward to it since the first grade because many seniors recommended it was a good program for us. And I was learning about Japanese pop culture and traditional culture in my school lecture, so I thought it would be a good experience for me to experience this in person.
1. Visit Kyoto
The second day after arriving in Japan during this Japanese cultural experience was Kyoto. "I have been to Kyoto once before, but it was good that I could experience various tourist spots through this training." When I heard that touching the stone statue's head at Kitano Tenmangu would improve my brain, we touched the stone statue's head together at the same time. And the situation was so funny. The streets of Kyoto were exactly what I had expected of Japan. The most memorable place was Kiyomizu Temple. On the way up to Kiyomizu Temple, there were many people wearing kimonos, tourists taking pictures and souvenir shops. And I ate lunch with my Japanese friends for the first time in Kyoto. I was able to talk a lot, so I became closer with them.
2. Special lectures
All of the special lectures offered to us at Konan Women's University were very useful. Among them, the most interesting lecture was the "Japanese Cartoon and Animation" and the "Takarazuka opera". Japanese Cartoon and Animation was almost the same as what I learned in the Japanese Culture Industry class at school, so it was easy to understand. After taking the Takarazuka opera class, I learned a little about Takarazuka. So when I actually went to see the Takarazuka opera, I was looking forward to it and helpful in understanding it.
3. Organ performance and yosakoi performance
It was the first time I actually saw an organ, even a very large pipe organ. As soon as I saw it, I started to admire it, and as I listened to the organ, I thought it was a beautiful sound. I wanted to play it myself. Thank you so much for letting the students experience it in person. I don't think I'll ever have a chance to see such an organ. And the yosakoi performance with Japanese friends was also very interesting. It was fun to sit down and watch Japanese friends dance, but it was more fun to dance in person. I had a Japanese friend in Yosakoi club, so I think I could learn it more interesting.
4. Tea ceremony and flower arrangement
I've heard a lot about both tea ceremony and flower arrangement, but I've never really experienced it. While listening to major classes at school, I learned many times, It was really amazing when I actually tried it. The tea ceremony was fun and the tea was also delicious. And after finishing the flower arrangement experience, I felt proud and it was very pretty. It was a great opportunity to see and experience what I learned in class.
5. Kansai region's cooking experience
The Kansai region's cooking experience was with students from Conan Women's University. Japanese students prepared their presentations in Korean and cooked everything for us. They made us yakisoba, and they also made kimchi yakisoba. It was so delicious to eat kimchi and it was also the most popular with us. Thanks to the hard work of the Japanese students, I was very grateful to be able to eat delicious yakisoba.
6. Homestay
I think the most memorable experience of this Japanese cultural experience training is a homestay. At first I was looking forward to a homestay and was very worried, but thanks to a kind host family, I was able to make good memories. I'm very grateful that they really made us feel like family members. I could ate meal of Japanese-style and experience Japanese bath culture. Host family always tried to listen to our opinions, so we could do a lot of work. The host families were interested in Korea and were able to talk about various things. It was an unforgettable experience to sing Korean songs in a karaoke box in my home-stay home.
I was able to experience that I had not been able to do by myself during two weeks of Japanese cultural experience. I was able to listen to lectures at a Japanese university, play with my Japanese friends and have a homestay. It will probably be an unforgettable memory even after a long time. Since I have to listen to and use Japanese during two weeks, my Japanese ability has improved a little. Also I have contact with Japanese friends, and I have met precious friends. I thought I wanted to go to Japan to exchange students because of this Japanese culture experience training. I thought I had to study Japanese harder to get in touch with my friends again.
