Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

My hobbies are analyzing and collecting the information of cosmetic products and skin-care products. My goal is to enter this field as a e-marketer. In last winter vacation, I worked as an intern for a starts-up company, Vecs Gardenia. It is a company which sells skin-care and cosmetic products and has about 55,000 fans in their Facebook fan page. I obtained a great sense of accomplishment from my work and my manager told me he always welcomes me back to work after I graduate from MBA.
My favorite brands of skin-care and cosmetic product are Shu Uemura, Hada-Labo, Curel, Kao, Shiseido, and DHC. And it is worth mentioning that they are all Japanese brands. Compared with the brands of European, American, and Korea, Japanese products are more suitable for Taiwanese skin and weather. Therefore, I sincerely hope I can know more about their products and collect the information about their brands, commercials, and sales promotion during the period of international exchange program. And I believe that the experience of living in Japan for one year can help me become more eligible and competent than others. As a result, I hope I can work for those brands I fond of after returning to Taiwan.
Kwansei Gakuin University is an international school. In the first semester, I can practice my skills of English speaking and listening with the exchange students from all around the world. And I will try my best to learn Japanese and English simultaneously. I hope I can communicate with Japanese using fluent Japanese as soon as possible. After that, I believe I will have an outstanding performance in both English and Japanese.
Due to the love for Japan and the enthusiasm for cosmetic industry, I am certain that I can maximize the value of this exchange experience. Furthermore, I’ll take my advantage to enter my ideal Japanese cosmetics company. The dean of Faculty of Business in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Edwin Cheng, said” If you love your work, you always have passion to do it.” I will strive to enrich my everyday life during exchange program by learning aggressively in the school, and participating in various extracurricular activities and international interactions. The most important part of this journey is gaining a deeper understanding of the Japan companies, especially in the area of cosmetics, which is an industry of my future aspiration.

Experience while studying abroad

In the blink of an eye, fall semester has gone by. By the general planning of KGU’s Japanese course, my Japanese skill has improved a lot. Daily conversation won’t be a problem for me anymore. I can already talk in Japanese with my host family and Japanese friends. I was in level one for fall semester, and I choose to skip the level for spring semester from level 1 to level 3. It means that I need to finish the entire courses of level two for winter semester. I believe I can write scholarship’s feedback in Japanese for the next semester.
I also make a lot of new friends this semester and meet many friendly people in KGU’s activity: Coffee Hour. The first Coffee Hour took place in Nishinomiya-Uegahara Campus. It is fun and I’ve met lots of international students with different culture background. The second Coffee hour took place in Sanda Campus. Although the number of international students are not as many as the first time, the students of KGU still prepared many fun games for the international students. And these activities create more opportunities for me to interact with the KGU students. It is really heart-warming to meet new friends who like Taiwan so much. I’ve promised them I'll be their guide whenever they visit Taiwan. Moreover, we had other great activities. One of my favorite activities is the international student party. It took place in Takarazuka Hotel, having delicious food and amazing shows.
As I mentioned before, I’m highly interested in analyzing and studying the information of cosmetic products and skin-care products. Thanks for the scholarship, I can have more opportunities to have a deeper understanding of those Japanese brands I loved. I plan to create an Instagram account to record the trend of cosmetic products in Japan and the feedback after using those products. I am certain that these knowledges and insights will be an important stepping stone on my way to cosmetics and skin-care products companies.
