On September 10, 2025, I began my exchange student life at Kwansei Gakuin University. Through this study abroad experience, I have learned many things and grown significantly. I also had the opportunity to meet many friends from different countries and had unforgettable memories with them.
Since coming to Japan, my language skill has greatly improved. Before arriving in Japan, I was very afraid of speaking Japanese, especially afraid of making mistakes. However, thanks to the constant encouragement from my teachers and classmates, I gradually gained self-confidence in speaking Japanese. In class, I had various opportunities to present on various topics in Japanese, and my teachers always provided thoughtful feedback. In my daily life, I am also able to have simple conversations with others, which allowed me to experience the joy of using Japanese to interact and communicate each other. Through those experiences, I was able to appreciate the charm of Japan more deeply.
In addition to my studies, life in the dormitory was also very fulfilling. Everyone living in the dormitory was kind and supportive, and we helped each other whenever someone encountered difficulties. Whenever there was a problem, we could also seek help from the dormitory staff, which made daily life very reassuring. For me, this place felt like a “second home.” We celebrated Christmas together and welcomed the New Year together as well. Because each of us came from different cultural backgrounds, living together allowed me to learn many new things and broaden my perspectives.
Furthermore, I was fortunate to participate in various activities and travel to different places in Japan. Through a university program, I experienced Yuzen dyeing together with other international students and had the chance to learn about traditional Japanese dyeing techniques. I also took part in an exchange activity with junior high school students, where I introduced the culture of my home country. In addition, visiting student clubs such as the tea ceremony club allowing me to experience Japanese student life more closely. At the end of 2025, I spent my Christmas holiday in Hokkaido with my dormitory friends and enjoyed the beautiful winter sceneries as well as local cuisine unique to the region. During a spring holiday break, I also visited Wakayama, where I spent relaxing time by the seaside and enjoyed hot springs. All of these experiences were truly wonderful.
Although my exchange program lasts only one year, this time will remain an irreplaceable and precious memory in my life. I am deeply grateful for all the people I have met and all the experiences I have had. I feel truly fortunate. During the remaining time of my exchange, I hope to continue challenging myself, make the most of every opportunity, and fully enjoy the rest of my study abroad experience. I am certain that this will become one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life.
