I lived abroad when I was a child, where I had the opportunity to interact with friends from diverse backgrounds and experience different values. This experience had a big impact on my perspective, and from an early age, I aspired to work in a global environment. Currently, I am studying international politics and international relations at the School of International Studies. By studying these fields in the local language, I aim to deepen my understanding and gain new insights. Australia is a nation built on immigration, fostering a society where multicultural coexistence thrives. Through cross-cultural exchange, I hope to explore multiculturalism in a practical context and develop a deeper understanding of how people from different cultural backgrounds can live together harmoniously. During this study abroad program, I seek to not only enhance my language proficiency and academic expertise but also broaden my global perspective by engaging with individuals from diverse cultures. With just 10 months abroad, I am determined to make the most of every day, cherish each day, and gain valuable experience that will lead to my future career.

It has already been six months since I started my study abroad life in Australia. Although I was confident in my English for daily conversations before coming here, I soon realized that academic English is a completely different challenge. There are so many technical terms, and as I look up the meaning of one word, I often come across several more unfamiliar words. This has become a constant part of my daily routine.
In addition, I still struggle to find the courage to speak up when asked for my opinion during class discussions. I often end up remaining silent, which has been a habit of mine. However, observing those around me has been eye-opening. Many students actively express their opinions without fear of making mistakes. What impressed me the most is their attitude of trying to communicate their thoughts clearly, even if their English is not perfect.
At my university, there are many students for whom English is a second language, yet they do not hesitate to participate in discussions. Their confidence and willingness to speak have inspired me. I am gradually learning that it is important not to seek perfection, but to focus on communicating my ideas first.
There are still many moments when I feel frustrated that I cannot express myself as I wish, but I want to actively create more opportunities to speak and build my confidence. Studying abroad is a continuous challenge, facing my weaknesses and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. For the remaining months, I hope to keep growing, step by step.

Over the course of my exchange program, my English communication skills have improved significantly compared to when I was in Japan. By being exposed to native English on a daily basis, I had more opportunities to learn new expressions and phrases that I had never encountered before, and I was able to enhance not only my listening skills but also my speaking ability.
Through interactions with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, I was able to deepen my understanding of different cultures and develop a more global perspective. In particular, group work in multinational teams provided a valuable opportunity to learn how to respect different values while working together toward a common goal.
Although I am still exploring my specific career path, I hope to build on the global perspective, language skills, and cooperation skills I gained through this experience and grow into a person who can contribute to society by collaborating with diverse people both in Japan and abroad. To achieve this, I will continue to actively pursue learning after returning to Japan and make the most of my study abroad experience.
