Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

Experience while studying abroad

Results of study abroad, future goals

At the beginning of 2020 I studied at Kobe University for 3 weeks. It was a short term intensive Japanese program. While there I stayed in an all-female dormitory and from there every morning I had to walk up Mount Rokko to get to class. This in itself was a challenge as I am not use to walking up mountains, this is due to Perth not being mountainous. Although, the view from the university was worth the walk and the sight was absolutely breathtaking, I even felt healthier after. This walk and the dorm was all part of an unforgettable experience during my study. The Japanese language classes were amazing, they helped with my speaking as well as writing. The grammar points helped majorly with my studies and due to this program I gained confidence to speak Japanese. The University also organised cultural days where we learnt more about Japan itself. These helped with my confidence in speaking to Japanese locals, as well as gaining respect for Japanese history and culture. I gained an absolute love for Japan while here. Kobe and Kansai region in general is an amazing place, with a safe and friendly atmosphere. In the future I wish to work in Japan and due to this experience I am now more confident about this aspiration. I have also experienced life here and, due to this study trip, think I would like to come back and live in Osaka or Kobe. This course gave me the opportunity to grow personally and make friends, both Japanese and Australian.
