Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

The reason I decided to participate in this study abroad program is that I would like to broaden my future view. I haven’t decided in which field I want to have a job, but I hope to work at a company which has relationships with overseas after graduating the university. I take part in this study abroad because I think it will provide me variable experiences and good effects on my future. I want to make use of this experience to help me select future occupations.
My goal is to acquire various skills such as business and communication, and grow myself through this study abroad. This internship will not just improve my English. I think it is necessary to learn business English. And also, it is important to learn the difference between Japanese and Australian needs for understand different cultures related to business. In addition, I need to communicate with local people more positively. Since this is my very first experience and I may confuse a lot, but I will try hard to absorb new things and to become confident of who I am.

Experience while studying abroad

The internship has started from July 4th. I’m working at travel agency. Because this is my first time to experience internship, I was very nervous at first. However, I am enjoying my work, because everyone is kind to me. It has just started, but I have joined tours that runs by my internship company. I took this photo during the tour. In the tour, I noticed the most important thing is the tour guides. I know travel agency is very important too. I experienced two tours. One tour was well-trained tour guide, and the other one was the tour guide who do it for the first time. I was surprised that even though the explanation was the same, it changed so much that the tour guide's way of speaking, layout, language, and atmosphere were slightly different. In addition, I was impressed by the tour guides who were taking care of the guests and the travel agency who is setting the schedule behind it. Of course, they have to prepare before the tour, but they’re thinking specific details such as how to make guests happier and how to keep guests from waiting as long as possible. I want to learn more about it through this internship as much as I can.

Results of study abroad, future goals

There are 3 main things that I did through this program; Career English, Business English and Internship. I couldn’t make friend who are native speaker, because most student in my class were Japanese. However, I think my class got more closer through excursion or some other event, and I got used to live in Sydney. We studied Business English for internship. Every students are from same university and this class is mainly presentation. We did presentation once a week. We worked on myself or group. I haven’t done presentation often and I didn’t know how to do, but I learned every week and I think I achieved. I worked at travel agency during the internship. There are all Japanese staff, so I couldn’t get chance to use English very mush. But I learned a lot of things. I learned how difficult it is to run a business and organize a tour from my boss. And also I learned how difficult to advertise from make a homepage. There were many other opportunities to learn about guide work and Sydney, and I learned a lot.
I haven’t decided my future yet. I’d like to think about my future carefully. Through this internship, I’m interested in working overseas. I feel my vision expanded through this experience. I will continue to do internships in Japan as well and find my future.
